Superhero Putin saves us all

As a long time Moscow Blog reader you know that I am trying to stay away from politics. Its not really that I am afraid of some government punishment, but there are just too many blogs commenting on Russian politics and the countries economy. So why create another boring one.

The first Russian Mc Donalds

January 31st  1990. The first Mc Donalds opens in the Soviet Union. This particular McDonalds restaurant still exists and you can visit it next to the Pushkinskaya Place (Chechovskaya Metro). The Soviet Union was tumbeling, but not falling for another 2 years, while Moscovites were the first to taste fast food and capitalism. If they would only had known, that its the beginning of the end.

The Bolshoi Theatre in crisis

Some of you may know, that I have pretty good connections to the Bolshoi since I got to Moscow, about 8 years ago. In fact, some of the first people I met here, were Bolshoi dancers. I’ve been stunned about, what’s going on beyond the closed red curtain, but of course, being loyal to my friends, I rarely talked about it.
