I just found this footage and its amazing. The almost crash happened at a military airfield close to Moscow. Apparently the airplane (Tupolev 154B-2, formerly Aeroflot) was standing on the ground for over 10 years and the pilots were supposed to bring it to a technical overhaul, when the aircarfts stearing system failed. The “dancing plane” became almost uncontrollable and the pilots tried 2 attempts to land it and succeeded at the end. That was some amazing work of the pilots. They saved their own lives and probably even others.

There are many ways of getting around Moscow and most of them are confusing for tourists and newcomers.
The Airport

Here is an interesting piece of news I just picked up from Reuters… Putin had a meeting with Moscow city officials last monday and they decided to close the city owned Vnukovo airport and merge it with the state owned Sheremetyevo to counter the rise of the cities most modern and in my opinion successful airport, the privately held Domededovo. Well, the conspiracy theory enthusiasts among you should keep their eyes and ears open .

Hey, I’m on the CNN website. They wanted to have a foreigners view on Moscow. I’ve said some bad things about the city as well, but when shortening the article they must have cut them out. Well, better than the usual Russia bashing in the foreign media.

Wow! I’m impressed. Just found this really cool tool and from the looks of it, its from the official Moscow Metro authorities. Its a flash based map, which allows you to plan a trip. Its looking for the fastest way and calculating the time you need from A to B. This is a great and useful tool and even in English! If it would only load a bit faster and be printable, but nothing is perfect.
